About Midcoast Waste Services

Midcoast Waste Services (MWS) is a joint initiative between Gloucester Shire Council, Great Lakes Council and Greater Taree City Council. It was established to provide streamline waste services across these three Council areas enabling residents to share in the benefits of standardised services and to take advantage of the savings in having one contractor provide all services across the region.

Following a public tender process in 2008, JR Richards & Sons were awarded the contract to provide both the collection services and recycling processing for the next ten years. Services commenced in November 2009.

All households within the three council areas currently receive a waste service and a recycling service and those living in townships, villages and rural-residential estates will also receive a garden organics service.
