Great Lakes Annual Metal and Bulky Waste Collection

Cleanup Conditions of Use

Waste is to be placed out for collection at least 2 days prior to your scheduled collection day.

Overall quantity limit is 2 cubic metres Or 1 standard 7 x 4 trailer of each type of waste (Metal Items and Household Items).

Individual items must not weigh more than 40kg (OH&S requirements).

Green waste will NOT be accepted.

Excess and non complying waste will not be accepted by the contractor.

Waste is to be stacked neatly on the kerb and must NOT obstruct the footpath or roadway.

Materials not collected must be removed within 2 days after the collection is complete.

Loose items must be bundles and tied with string or in plastic bags.

Rural residents who have a common collection point for their weekly waste collection should place their bulky items at the same location.

Combined Scrap Metal and Household Bulk Waste Collection

Acceptable Metal Items: Scrap metal, fridges (doors removed), dryers and washing machines (doors removed), stoves (doors removed), microwaves, bbq's (including metal plates and frames), lawnmowers, hot water systems (less than 260L), bicycles (no tyres) and exercise equipment etc.

Acceptable Household Waste Items: Bed bases, mattresses, floor coverings, furniture, tv's, computers  (monitors and towers) and other small appliances (DVD's and VCR's), wardrobes, tables and lounges, vacuum cleaners, plastic outdoor furniture, empty pot plant containers and garden hoses etc.

Unacceptable Material

Unacceptable items include: Liquids of any kind (even in containers), greenwaste or organics, household garbage and food scraps, tyres, motor parts, commercial and building waste, bricks, treated timber, stumps or branches, concrete, gas bottles, car batteries, chemicals, soil, fuel, paint, oil, panes of glass and medicines.

The Contractor and Council reserve the right to refuse any item they deem unacceptable.


Collection Schedule

23 to 27 April - All of Forster.

30 April to 4 May - All of Tuncurry and Failford to the Pacific Highway and the boundary with Taree shire.

7 to 11 May - Green Point, Pacific Palms, Coomba Park and Smiths Lake including all households in this area receiving waste services on Tuesdays each week.

14 to 18 May - Nabiac, Wootton, Seal Rocks, Bungwahl and all households in this area with Wednesday waste services. Also Bulahdelah and all households in this area receiving a Monday waste service.

21 to 25 May - Nerong to Karuah, Pindimar, Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest including all households in this area receiving waste services Monday to Thursday.

28 May to 1 June - The Bucketts Way, Booral Road, Stroud and Wards River including all households in this area with Friday waste services.
